“Where can I find the best facility to house my critical IT infrastructure and everything I need to know about data centers?” Using their almost 40 years combined experience in the data center industry, Kenneth Jamaca and Don Small, founders of CGTS, Inc., have the answer - USDATACENTERLIST.com, launching today.
Jamaca and Small, know their way around data centers. Each of them holds a pedigree that would qualify them to present their opinion on the merits and de-merits of any data center facility. "For my entire career, I have been vendor and facility neutral" says Jamaca, "I don't feel the need to change that now." Keeping to this policy of neutrality, CGTS has developed USDATACENTERLIST.com, a new site that combines powerful data center search capabilities with industry knowledge and tools enabling the end user to find what they are looking for.
Finding a facility: The motto of USDATACENTERLIST.com is quite simple, "Search. Compare. Decide." At its core, USDATACENTERLIST.com is a fully search-able database of data centers and co-location facilities across the US (and parts of Canada). "The site is completely free to end users,” says Small, "who are able to search using a variety of criteria; and review the result set in a standard format. This makes it easy to review and compare multiple facilities’ specifications quickly and easily." Couple this with an easy workflow that gives end users the opportunity to contact the facility(ies) that are a good fit for their requirements directly, and it is easy to see the immense benefit provided by USDATACENTERLIST.com.
Access to industry resources: In response to the need for focused industry information and resources, Jamaca and Small have begun building a library of valuable data center industry reference materials and technical calculators. “The content I found in USDATACENTERLIST's knowledge base would have been quite helpful in my last site deployment,” says site beta tester Roy Singh of FormFactor, “Having resources like the Power Connector Reference and Power Consumption Calculators are invaluable when ordering new components, or reviewing specification sheets for new equipment.”
A technical forum rounds out the current feature set on the site. There are hints of future site additions in development including a whitepaper library and bi-directional technical job board, although neither was readily available for review at press time.
“In the fast-paced and dynamically changing data center industry, a focused collection of key technical resources and up to date content is truly a valuable find,” comments Small.
Jamaca agrees, adding, “The structure of USDATACENTERLIST.com has been designed to ensure our users will reap the benefits of our site for years to come. As technologies, facilities, standards and rules change, new and updated data will be readily available to our users on USDATACENTERLIST.com.”
